CAIRO: Egyptian Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Ismail Serageldin has won the M.S. Swaminathan Award for Environmental Protection 2010. He was awarded the honor on Saturday for his “outstanding contribution to the cause of environment protection.”
The award, given by the Rotary Club of India’s Madras East in cooperation with Cavinkare Private Limited, was presented in Chennai by former Parliamentary Speaker Balram Jakhar.
Describing the award as an “enormous honor,” Serageldin underlined the need for more sustained work towards protecting the environment.
